Vancouver Island Short Film Festival

There are presently no open calls for submissions.

The 11th annual Vancouver Island Short Film Festival will showcase the best short films on Friday, February 12th and Saturday, February 13th, 2016 at the Malaspina Theatre at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo.

All types of short films will be accepted for consideration into the Festival. All films must be 12 minutes or less including credits. Films will be projected in High Definition. Please submit your video in a .MOV, .MP4, .AVI or .MPG format. We will accept multiple submissions, but each submission requires a separate entry fee. We will show a maximum of 2 films per filmmaker. Filmmakers from any country may enter. All non-English language films must be presented with English subtitles.

Submissions cost $30, the deadline is November 1, 2015.

Entries will be viewed by a Selection Committee and an Awards Panel. The Policy for the Selection and Judging Committee may be found on our website. This Policy also outlines the guidelines by which the Committees accept the films. All decisions made by both the Selection and Awards judges will be final. A short list of the selected films will be announced by January 1st, 2016. If your film is accepted into the Festival, we will contact you to request production stills, bios, and any other pertinent information. Each accepted filmmaker will receive artist fees ($50 per film, per showing) and 2 complimentary tickets to the Festival.

There will be a filmmaker Q&A with those that wish to participate after the matinee show on Saturday, February 13th. The evening screening on Saturday will be followed by an Awards Ceremony and After Party. Awards will be given out in several categories.

Films will be used for screening at the event and for promotional purposes for the Festival. For info visit www.visff.com or email submissions@visff.com
